Mo Dao Zu Shi, written by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu.

This fan-comic is XuanYu's backstory imagined by Zelda.

A rough comic that was sketched out in a rather short amount of time because Zelda suddenly had the idea for Mo Xuanyu's life. Starting from him arriving at the LanLing Jin's at 14 years of age, to him performing the forbidden ritual and summoned the Yiling Patriarch Wei Wuxian. This is based on the first edition novel Mo Dao Zu Shi, where Mo Xuanyu didn't have any lines in the story.

After the first short sketch comic was posted, many readers reacted emotionally and were hoping this tragic character could have a better ending. Since it was Zelda's personal interpretation that made the readers care for Mo XuanYu so much, Zelda felt responsible to give him a happy ending, and so a continuation of his story in the underworld was made, where he'd meet hell judges and befriend ghost guards. (thus, a casual fan-comic turned into a 4 year long project...)

*Aside from the first part "For Mo XuanYu" that was cleaned up a bit and posted in Zelda's ko-fi gallery, this fan-comic is mostly only on twitter/x because it started off as a very sketchy, casual thing. Zelda didn't expect this comic to become so long and really difficult to navigate on twitter/x.

It would require too much energy and time to re-post each page on a different platform or website now. Sorry for the inconvenience if you do not have a twitter/x account. If you are able to read Chinese, there is the original Chinese version posted on weibo
